The University of Delaware Chorale plus 30 additional singers will be the acting choir in residence with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra to perform Orff’s Carmina Burana and Bacalov’s Misa Tango in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Ashdod under the direction of Chen Zimbalista. While in Jerusalem, Chorale will collaborate with the YMCA Jerusalem Youth Chorus, a community chorus that seeks to promote peace through music and discussion with students of Arab and Jewish backgrounds. Chorale will continue to a Choral Festival in Abu-Gosh, followed by a trip up to the northern part of Israel to the city of Haifa. While in Haifa, Chorale will collaborate with peace drums. Peace drums and the University of Delaware have had a lasting connection fostered by UD’s own percussion professor, Harvey Price.
